How to Install Your DremGara®‌ Garage Floor Mat

Built for a Simple Setup

DremGara® is designed for homeowners who want garage floor protection without turning installation into a project.

Some models include optional adhesive hook-and-loop strips for helping hold corners or edges in place. These are for positioning support, not permanent floor alteration.

Before You Start

A clean floor creates a better setup.

Remove loose dirt, stones, sharp debris, tools, and storage items from the garage floor. The mat should sit on a flat, stable surface without raised objects underneath.

Check these three things before installation:

If your package includes small parts, foam strips, or packaging materials, keep them away from infants and children.

What Comes in the Package

Package contents may vary by product model, so always check the product page and the manual included with your order.

Step 1: Clear

Sweep the garage floor first.

Do not install the mat over stones, screws, metal fragments, sharp debris, or heavy grit. These can affect how the mat sits and may damage the surface during vehicle movement.

A clear floor also makes it easier to align the mat with the vehicle.

Step 2: Unroll

Unroll the mat near its final parking position.

Because the mat is shipped rolled or folded for packaging, temporary wrinkles, waves, or curling may appear after unboxing. This is normal for PVC-style garage mats and usually improves after the mat has time to lay flat.

Place the mat as close as possible to its final position before making adjustments.

Step 3: Relax

Let the mat settle before regular use.

Allow the material to relax on the garage floor so its own weight can help reduce shipping waves and edge curl. If the mat has a temporary scent after unboxing, ventilate the garage and allow the product to air out.

For best results:

Lay the mat flat.
Let it settle before final positioning.
Avoid forcing hard folds into the material.
Do not park aggressively on curled edges.

Step 4: Deploy

Once the mat is flat and aligned, slowly drive your vehicle onto it.

Check that all four tires are inside the mat area and that the vehicle sits where water, snow, mud, road salt, and everyday drips are most likely to fall.

This is your garage protection zone.

Install the Foam Drainage Edge

Some DremGara® garage mats include a drainage outlet on the short side of the mat. The foam strip for this drainage outlet may be packed separately for shipping.

Install the foam strip before first use.

The foam strip helps create a raised edge near the drainage outlet, so water, snow, mud, and debris stay inside the mat during normal use.

Step 1: Find the Drainage Outlet

Locate the drainage outlet on the short side of the mat.

Open the hook-and-loop closure at the bottom of the drainage area.

Step 2: Insert the Foam

Place the foam strip fully into the waterproof fabric pocket.

Make sure the foam lies flat without folds, twisting, or gaps.

Step 3: Seal the Closure

Close the hook-and-loop closure firmly.

Press along the full closure line to help secure the foam in place and restore the raised edge structure.

Position the Mat

Place the mat where your vehicle naturally parks.

Align it with the garage door, tire tracks, storage zones, and walking paths. The goal is to keep snowmelt, rainwater, mud, road salt, and everyday drips inside the mat area instead of letting them spread across the floor.

Positioning tips:

Center the mat under the vehicle.
Leave enough space around the tires.
Check that the garage door can close normally.
Make sure car doors can open without catching the raised edge.
Keep the drainage outlet facing the direction you prefer for cleanup.

Secure the Corners or Edges

If your package includes adhesive hook-and-loop strips for the mat corners or edges, use them only after the mat is properly positioned.

Before applying adhesive strips:

Mark the final corner locations.
Wipe the floor and mat corner area clean.
For better adhesion, clean the corner area with alcohol pads if available.
Check the alignment of the upper and lower hook-and-loop strips.
Press firmly after installation to activate bonding.

These strips are intended to reduce shifting in normal use. They do not replace proper floor preparation or careful driving onto the mat.

Assemble the Floor Squeegee

If your package includes a floor squeegee, assemble it before cleaning.

Extend the telescoping rods until fully engaged.
Rotate the rod to lock the length.
Insert the rod head into the scraper unit.
Rotate to secure the head before use.

The squeegee helps guide wastewater, snowmelt, slush, and debris toward the drainage area during cleaning.

Park and Test

After setup, drive onto the mat slowly.

Do not make sharp turns, sudden braking, or hard steering movements on the mat. Check that all four tires sit inside the intended parking area and that the raised edges are not being crushed by an uneven floor area.

After parking, inspect:

Tire position.
Mat alignment.
Drainage outlet closure.
Corner stability.
Garage door clearance.
Door-opening clearance.

Adjust the mat before regular use if needed.

Common Installation Mistakes

Final Installation Check

Your mat is ready when the surface lies flat, the foam drainage edge is installed, the hook-and-loop closure is sealed, the vehicle parks fully inside the mat area, and the corners or edges are secured if needed.

Do I need glue to install the mat?

No permanent glue is required. Some models include optional adhesive hook-and-loop strips to help hold corners or edges in place, but the mat does not require permanent floor modification.

Do I need tools to install the mat?

Most setup steps can be completed by hand. If your model includes adhesive strips or a floor squeegee, follow the included instructions for those parts.

Where is the drainage outlet?

On drainage models, the outlet is located on the short side of the mat.

Should the drainage outlet stay open?

No. Keep the drainage outlet hook-and-loop closure sealed during normal use. Open it only when you are actively draining and cleaning.

Can I install the mat on an uneven floor?

The mat should be used on a level, stable garage surface. Uneven areas can affect edge performance and mat positioning.

Can I trim the mat?

Do not trim the mat if you want to keep its containment function. Cutting the mat may damage the raised-edge design and reduce water control.
